Portraits de Femmes
Portraits of Women
Portraits of Women is a succession of short moments, made up in alternation, of pieces on sound support and of instrumental pieces, among which 5 songs. The pieces on sound support are portraits of Spanish women resulting from the acoustic piece L’Escalier des Aveugles (the staircase of the Blinds), and the 5 songs are composed on words of women (texts of Colette Fellous). The whole represents a broad multilingual poem which lasts 1:20′.
Portraits de Femmes is written for a singer, 5 musicians and memorized sounds.

In connection with Portraits de femmes
This concert is composed of two in time and space imbricated works.
L’escalier des aveugles, assemblage of electroacoustic pieces spread in the space of the room, and Chansons pour le corps, suite of songs with instrumental interludes which come from the stage.
Each part of L’escalier des aveugles is a small comedy that puts in scene a young woman and a place. Kind of news in which a sound photographer tries to make the portrait of a woman who would be at the same time guide, interpret and actress. Each place is different and the whole of this news weave a kind of description of the town of Madrid, where all the elements were recorded.
Chansons pour le corps are made of two elements. A tape that is a kind of symphony of interviews of women, who speak about the body, and a score for instruments and song, composed starting from texts of Colette Fellous.
Song-opera or labyrinth perhaps, or Lieder-Melody or sung Melodrama or Oratorio-Ditty or Aria, so many things pass through a labyrinth. A passage is probably done in several directions. The body, would be this only the hands, or if they indicate or if they feel, are indeed a labyrinth.
These songs say eyes, hands and remainder of the body, their simplicity and their complexity.
Alternation between L’escalier des aveugles and les Chansons pour le corps makes a curious mixture of genres, places and languages. Thus is manufactured with the passage of time, a voyage through femininity.
