En un tournement d’amour (July – November 1986) — (30′)
In a turnment of love
For an orchestra of 49 musicians (2 flutes, oboe, cor anglais, clarinet, low clarinet, 2 bassoons, 2 horns, 2 trumpets, 2 tenor trombones, tuba, timps, 3 percussions, piano, harp, 8 violins I, 6 violins II, 6 violas, 4 violoncellos, 4 double basses)
It is a love that turns or it is a torment. It is always repeated but it is never similar. The ideas come and go. Come from large symphonic continuities (Cell 75), but having met fragmentations on the way (Collection de Petites Pièces), this composition is a large form made of discontinuity.
It is also a whirling.
